Swiss hotel school fees: what each school publishes

A full bachelor at a Swiss hotel school costs between CHF 122,100 and CHF 186,500 on the figures the schools publish. The range says less than the small print behind each number.

Swiss hotel school fees for a full bachelor degree run from CHF 122,100 to CHF 186,500 on the totals the schools print. Don't read that as a league table. The totals cover different years, different rooms and different extras, and three of the eight schools we cover keep their amounts in PDFs. BHMS is one of the eight, and it's affiliated with this guide. Here's how we handle that.

01

What do Swiss hotel schools publish for a bachelor?

Here are the totals as each school's own page or fee table prints them, in Swiss francs. We haven't added, removed or converted anything.

SchoolWhat the figure coversPublished total (CHF)Not in the number
BHMSBA Years 1–3, standard shared accommodation, meals, health insurance[1]39,700 + 40,700 + 41,700 = 122,100 (2027 table, the three printed years added)Extra room categories; a CHF 1,500 refundable room deposit
SHMSBA, 3 years, Pathway 1: tuition, accommodation, meals, infrastructure and services[2]93,600 + 45,500 + 47,400 = 186,500CHF 2,000 deposit; no intake year printed on the page
César RitzBSc, immersion year plus Years 1–3 (10 terms and 2 internship periods)[3]169,300CHF 2,000 deposit; no school fees during internships
Culinary Arts AcademyBA Culinary Arts, 7 terms and 2 internships[4]176,200CHF 2,000 deposit; no school fees during internships
HTMiUndergraduate "total fees per programme", plus a down payment due every 20-week semester[5]25,500 + 3,350 = 28,850Not a whole-degree figure

The BHMS amounts come from the school's 2027 fee table. Its fee page links the PDF but doesn't print the amounts.[1] If you pick a culinary or pastry track at BHMS, add CHF 500 a year for uniforms and knives.

02

Where are the EHL, Glion and Les Roches fees?

They're in PDFs, not on the page. EHL links separate fee PDFs for Swiss and international students, and the page itself shows no amounts.[8] Glion changes its fees every semester and links schedules labelled Spring and Fall 2027.[6] Les Roches links 2027 schedules for each campus.[7] We couldn't read those files today, so we show no figure for these three. We'd rather leave a gap than guess.

03

Why can't you just compare the totals?

Four things get in your way.

  • Length. SHMS's total covers four semesters plus two paid internship periods.[2] César Ritz's stretches over ten terms and two internship periods.[3] BHMS's three columns are three academic years. Ask each school what "year" means to them.
  • Internships. César Ritz and the Culinary Arts Academy charge no school fees during internships, so you cover your own living costs then.[3][4]
  • Fee year. Some pages don't print an intake year, so a 2027 table beside an undated one isn't a like-for-like pair.
  • Printing errors. On a few pages the cells don't add up to the page's own total. We used the totals as printed.

The BHMS application fee is another case. The 2027 table prints CHF 1,000 in every year column. We haven't confirmed whether continuing students pay it in Years 2 and 3, so ask the school.

04

What does this mean for you?

Don't pick a school from this table. Use it to decide what to ask for.

  1. Ask each school on your shortlist for a written quote for your intake. It should show every year, every compulsory charge, the room type, the weeks of meals and the insurance dates.
  2. Line the quotes up on one basis: the total for the whole route first, then each year.
  3. Budget your internships separately. At BHMS the operating expense of CHF 2,750 a year includes an internship placement service. That isn't the same as covering your living costs while you work.
  4. Check whether you qualify for a reduction. If you're a Swiss citizen or C-permit holder, BHMS takes 30% off tuition on English-taught programmes of at least 12 months.[1] Glion takes 35% off tuition for Swiss nationals who are new students in Switzerland, but not off accommodation and board.[6]
  5. Keep a copy of the fee document, with its date. Schedules change, and Glion's change every semester.[6]
