EHL fees for the bachelor in hospitality management, September 2027 and February 2028 intakes: if you're an international student, tuition is CHF 123,802 over the four-year programme. Add services, food credit, minimum housing and registration, and our calculation comes to CHF 211,280.[3] That works out to roughly CHF 52,820 a year on average. It's not an invoice, though, and it's not the same as "tuition".
How much does EHL cost, line by line?
EHL's fee sheet covers a preparatory year and three bachelor years.[3] The table adds up every line for the whole route. The right-hand column is the Swiss/HES-SO category, which we explain below.
| Line (CHF, four years) | International | Swiss / HES-SO eligible |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition | 123,802 | 29,098 |
| Infrastructure and services | 48,210 | 48,210 |
| Application / registration | 370 | 370 |
| Food credit | 11,863 | 11,863 |
| Minimum scheduled housing | 27,035 | 27,035 |
| Subtotal | 211,280 | 116,576 |
| Average per year (subtotal ÷ 4) | 52,820 | 29,144 |

What's not in that number?
Health insurance adds CHF 8,400 unless you're exempt.[3] The CHF 5,000 deposit is refundable, so you need the cash up front, but it isn't a final cost.[3] The food credit isn't full board.[3] You'll also need to budget for materials, taxes, travel, extra meals and your living costs during internships.[3]
One small oddity: EHL prints a compulsory total of CHF 183,874 before housing, while its own lines add up to CHF 1 more.[3] We went with the lines you can see.
What do Swiss and HES-SO students pay?
If you qualify under the A-HES agreement, your tuition is capped at a set amount per academic year, and HES-SO covers the rest.[2] The cap starts with the first year of the bachelor itself. The preparatory year isn't covered.[2] Our Swiss column keeps the services, food and housing lines, so the subtotal is CHF 116,576 and not far lower.
Who qualifies? Swiss nationals whose parents live in Switzerland do. So do several other groups, for example foreign students whose parents have civil residence in Switzerland, or adults who have lived in Switzerland for at least two years and worked for pay.[2] You can't pick this discount. Only HES-SO decides your status, and its questionnaire reaches you one month before the academic year starts.[2]
What does this mean for you?
First, find your category. If your parents live abroad and you've never lived in Switzerland, plan on the international column. If you think you might qualify, ask EHL admissions before you budget, because the gap is large.
Second, compare on the same basis. EHL's four-year total includes the preparatory year. Put it next to a three-year school's total, or a first-year quote, and the gap looks bigger or smaller than it really is. Stick to whole-programme figures for the same intake year, or annual averages with the same lines included.
Third, get it in writing. EHL says the fees on its page are for information only and may change.[1] The fee link has served an earlier intake before, so save a dated copy of the sheet and of your offer. Direct entry into the third semester has its own fee documents.[1]
Fourth, look at funding early. EHL lists loans and grants, including its own foundation and Swiss government aid.[1] Keep any award out of your base budget until you've got it confirmed in writing.
Next step
Start with the EHL profile at /schools/ehl/, then set your figures beside other schools in the cost planner or the head-to-head comparisons. We're affiliated with one of the schools we cover, BHMS, and we say so on the methodology page. The EHL figures here come from EHL's own sheet, not from us.
